CRIMINAL is the debut film by Gregory Jacobs starring
John C. Reilly, Diego Luna and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Steeped
in the bright light, dry heat and layered cultures of
contemporary Los Angeles, CRIMINAL follows a day in
the life of two small-time bunco artists who, after quickly
forming a bond as master and mentor, stumble upon
a foolproof and potentially lucrative scam.

From his Oscar-nominated work in “Chicago” and the
films of P.T. Anderson, audiences have come to know
John C. Reilly as a guy who can talk his way into anything,
a skill he displays here with relish. A quieter presence, Diego Luna (“Y Tu Mamá También”) uses his eyes and face to bring his character, a small-time hustler, a work ethic and dignity that gives the film’s ending its winning emotional payoff.

A retelling of the Argentine film "Nueve Reinas" ("Nine Queens”), CRIMINAL is a contemporary caper film laced with mordant humor. The film is written by Jacobs and Sam Lowry, based on a screenplay by Fabian Bielinsky. Produced by George Clooney, Gregory Jacobs and Steven Soderbergh, the executive producers are Jennifer Fox, Ben Cosgrove, Georgia Kacandes, Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban.
