LOVE IN THE TIME OF MONEY, a new film written and
directed by Peter Mattei, starring Steve Buscemi,
Jill Hennessy, Michael Imperioli, Rosario Dawson,
Adrian Grenier, Malcolm Gets, Carol Kane, Vera Farmiga and
Domenick Lombardozzi had its world premiere out of
competition at the 2002 Sundance Film Festival and was
recently the opening night presentation at the
Gen Art Film Festival here in New York.

In this quintessentially metropolitan sexual roundelay,
set at the height of the Nasdaq boom, nine New Yorkers,
representing a cross section of society, are linked by romance
and commerce, and often both. Structured as a series of
successive one-on-one encounters involving a prostitute, a carpenter, a bored socialite, a bisexual art collector, a struggling painter, an art gallery receptionist, a love sick student, a lonely telephone psychic and a desperate Wall Street trader, the tale circles back to the same streetwalker it started with, and each rendezvous delineates the enormous gulf between what we want, what we need, and what we get.

In his assured and elegant feature debut, Peter Mattei cleverly updates Arthur Schnitzler's classic play, "Reigen," retaining its innovative "daisy-chain" structure and its enduring theme of sex as the great equalizer, while creating a time-capsule worthy mural of contemporary Manhattan at its most beautiful and most reckless.

The film was written and directed by Mattei and produced by Jason Kliot, Joana Vicente, Gretchen McGowan and Lisa Bellomo with Robert Redford and Michael Nozik serving as executive producers.
