SXSW 2007 Film Festival

Printable Schedule

We are pleased to represent four titles at next month's SXSW Film Festival.

Our two documentaries are both, in different ways, about fame.

JAMES BLUNT: RETURN TO KOSOVO, is the new film from Oscar-nominated director Steven Cantor that reveals Blunt's pre-fame identity as a tank commander in NATO's Kosovo liberation forces and his very personal connection to the troops still serving there as he returns as an international pop star, while CONFESSIONS OF A SUPERHERO is director Matt Ogens' beautifully photographed portrait of four aspiring actors who work Hollywood Boulevard's "Walk of Fame" dressed up as iconic superhero characters.

Our two dramatic features are both horror movies whose first-time directors take smart, new approaches to the genre while making sure to satisfy its fans with plenty of gore. Jeremy Saulnier's MURDER PARTY is a crowd-pleasing horror comedy about deranged Brooklyn hipsters intent on committing a murder in the name of art, while Douglas Buck's SISTERS is a retelling of the 1973 Brian De Palma cult classic that this time stars Chloe Sevigny, Lou Doillon, Dallas Roberts and Stephen Rea.

Films are presented in order of their first screening, and screening times are subject to change. We would love to book interviews in advance of the Festival. Until March 7, please call us at our New York office, 212-595-6161 or send us an email: christine@jeremywalker.com or adam@jeremywalker.com. JAMES BLUNT: RETURN TO KOSOVO

24 Beats Per Second

JAMES BLUNT: RETURN TO KOSOVO In September 2006, Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter James Blunt flew to the UN protectorate of Kosovo where, seven years earlier, he led a tank squadron as part of NATO's liberation forces. As his jet touched down on the Pristina airstrip, the two worlds of James Blunt (that of international pop star and that of a former British Army Captain) came together for a unique, emotional experience that neither he, nor his fans, will soon forget. In JAMES BLUNT: RETURN TO KOSOVO, the artist reunites with several of the young Albanian interpreters who had worked with his troop during the liberation of Kosovo. Together they retrace their steps, visiting several outlying towns James the solider was charged with protecting, including the site of a mass grave his unit happened upon during his time there. We also see James' own home video footage of the war-torn Kosovo of 1999. The sharp contrast between Kosovo past and present reveals a country much changed and improved through the efforts of NATO troops, yet remains possessed by a distinct haunting rawness from the still-recent atrocities committed there. During his visit, James also plays for a large crowd of NATO troops still stationed in Pristina, during which we experience a tangible, intimate connection between James and the audience. Expertly captured by Academy Award-nominated director Steven Cantor, James' signature voice shines and his thoughtful, sensitive lyrics take on new meaning during this truly special show.
